The SDI is basically a naturally aspirated TDI… very slow, but good on fuel. It means the TDI engine is helpt with aspirating through the exhaust-gas-turbine, and the SDI engine isn’t, so it has to suck in it’s air… They are sold in Europe as a highly economical option over the TDI.
