What happens if there is air in clutch?
The pressure of this fluid will cause the slave cylinder to activate, pushing your clutch fork and disengaging your clutch. If there is air in the system, that air bubble can compress.
How can I tell if there’s air in my clutch line?
If your clutch pedal feels soft or ‘spongy’ at any point as you press it to the floor, it’s a sign your clutch fluid is low. That spongy, inconsistent feeling is due to air in the clutch line from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.

Pump the clutch pedal – If you have a friend with you, have them get in the driver’s seat and pump the clutch pedal 10 to 15 times to build pressure. Then have them press and hold the clutch pedal completely down.
How can I get air out of my Clutch?
Remove the line from the slave, see if you can pull the line up into the engine bay so that the end of the line is above the master. Have someone slowly pump the clutch pedal and push the air out of the line, let the fluid run into a cup or jar, do this until all of the air is out of the line and pump.
How do you get a pin out of a hydraulic clutch?
You’ll likely never get the pin out with the master still on the truck, so you’ll have to take the master off. Fill the reservoir with fluid and pump it by hand until the fluid spills out of the hole for the line out, pump a couple of short pumps to get the air out of the pump, put the cap back on, reinstall.
Can a fan clutch be replaced in a Cummins Engine?
