Should I use silicone on valve cover gaskets?
Valve cover gaskets are designed to seal “dry,” so don’t apply sealant to the face of the gasket.
Can you use sealant with a gasket?
A general rule, if you are using gasket sealant, you don’t need a lot! Automotive applications commonly use gasket sealant alongside solid gaskets, as they are repairing older parts. Gasket sealant can be used to make cheaper gasket materials more robust, increasing adhesion and chemical/water resistance.
What is ThreeBond used for?
Room-Temperature-Vulcanizing Silicone, or Silicone RTV’s are used for sealing inner fluids via application to the joint surfaces of various flanges, screws, etc. ThreeBond silicones form a rubber elastic bond that have excellent vibration absorption, as well as chemical, shock and heat resistance.
Do you use sealant on cork gaskets?
