Why is my steering wheel hard after replacing the pump?
Sometimes after a power steering pump is installed, reduced pressure inside the hydraulic lines will build, which can create the symptoms you’re experiencing. IIn other cases, low power steering fluid levels can cause this to occur, as can air bubbles trapped in the hydraulic lines.
How do you reset the power steering on a VW?
Method 1
- Start the engine.
- Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.
- Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 a second time.
- Bring the steering wheel back to the center.
- Drive a short distance in a straight line.
- Restart the engine, and the steering angle sensor should be reset.
Why is my brand new power steering pump not working?

The issue of my vehicle is the power steer was hard to turn during the cold days when the vehicle was just started. Once the engine temperature increases to the normal level, the issue goes away. I first changed the power steering fluid, but the problem was still there.
