What causes a misfire in bank 1?
One of the most common problems that will cause misfire codes on one side of the engine is a clogged catalytic converter. A catalytic converter that is completely or partially clogged will restrict the exhaust gases.

P0301 indicates that cylinder number 1 is experiencing misfires. A misfire occurs when an insufficient amount of fuel is burning in a cylinder. A misfire from one or more cylinders can be caused by many reasons from a faulty ignition system, fuel system, or internal engine failure.

Can bad gas cause a misfire code?
Consequently, bad gas is good for the repair business. When people use gasoline that does not keep their fuel system clean, their injectors gradually clog up with varnish deposits. This results in a lean fuel mixture that may cause the engine to misfire, idle poorly, and hesitate or even stall when accelerating.
