Which is better sealed or Greasable ball joints?
Non greaseable joints are sealed better than greaseable joints. They are designed keep the grease in and the dirt and water out. When that happens, the only thing you can do is to replace the joint. A greaseable joint on the other hand is something that you have to grease but you also get to grease.
Are ball joints Greasable?
Problem Solver Ball Joints have a greasable design that allows the ball joint to receive new grease in every part of the ball joint and push out old grease or contaminates that can build up around the inner workings of the ball joint.
Are Greasable tie rods better?
FWIW the non-greaseable joints like these (ball, U, tie rod) are very durable. Unless the owner maintains the greasable ones they are not better. In most cases the non grease ones will last longer. This is because owners either do not grease or they overgrease – either case shortens the life.
How often should I grease my ball joints?
Ball joints allow you to steer smoothly and are constantly moving so throwing a little lubrication their way is a small favor for the big job that they do every day. The rule of thumb is to grease these parts every, or every other, oil change which might seem excessive, but again; little thanks, big job.
Do I need an alignment after replacing upper ball joints?

What kind of grease is best for ball joints?

Does Moog make good ball joints?
Moog lower ball joints are working great , because they are greasable!!! The whole reason I went with Moog to begin with…with regular maintenance they should last a lifetime.
Should you grease tie-rod ends?
Tie rod ends have an articulating metal stud that needs grease to keep your steering smooth. The general consensus is to grease these parts when its time for your oil change, but garages do not always do this.
Should upper and lower ball joints be replaced at the same time?
A: Plenty of mechanics will recommend that you replace both the upper and lower ball joints at the same time. They may also recommend checking related components at the same time, such as the stud hole in the steering knuckle.
Do you have to lubed ball joints for life?
Ball joints can be sealed or greasable. Sealed ball joints are lubed for life, so you do not need to apply grease now and then. They are the modern ball joint design and the most preferred by vehicle owners. These ball joints are low maintenance.
Why are ball joints sealed instead of greasable?
In some applications, tight clearances would make it nearly impossible to gain access to a Zerk fitting. With their sealed design, low-friction joints allow engineers to create compact assemblies, offer a reasonably long service life without periodic maintenance, and cut production costs.
Are there any sealed for life suspension joints?
Sealed-for-life components are very common at the OEM level, but many technicians have a definite preference for aftermarket greasable components. This poses the question: If greasable suspension joints are so popular, why don’t many modern suspensions have grease fittings anymore?
When possible, replacement of the OE-style sealed joint with a premium greasable joint is more cost-effective in terms of longevity, serviceability and performance than trying to re-engineer the existing design.
