What is valve throttling?
Throttling valves are valves that allow you to adjust the amount of flow by being able to adjust the size of the flow path through the valve. The two main types of valves that we offer for throttling applications are our globe valves and our needle valves.
What are throttle valves used for?
In a conventional gasoline engine, a throttle valve is used in the intake manifold to reduce the power output for part-load operation. Varying the throttle position (TP) controls the amount of mixture (air + fuel) inside the engine, while the AFR is kept constant.
What is hydraulic valve?
Hydraulic valves are mechanical devices that are used to regulate the flow of fluid within a hydraulic circuit or system. They can be used to completely close a line, to redirect pressurized fluid or to control the level of flow to a certain area.
Are throttling valves used?
The globe valve is primarily used as a throttling valve. This belongs to the linear motion valve family. The globe disk moves up or down in relation to the stationary ring seat. Its disk or plug controls the amount of media that can pass through.
What happens when you throttle a valve?

When the flow of a pump is regulated using a throttling valve, the system curve is changed. The operating point moves to the left on the Pump curve when the flow is decreased.

What is a valve collet?
They act as a pair and have a tapered outside surface to allow them to lock into the retainer or piston securely due to friction. On the inside, there is a ‘ridge’ which is used to position the collet axially on the valve; the valve has a corresponding groove into which the collet ridge can locate.
Which is a quick opening valve?
Quick Open : A quick opening valve plug produces a large increase in flow for a small initial change in stem travel. Near maximum flow is reached at a relatively low percentage of maximum stem lift. Quick open plugs are used for on-off applications designed to produce maximum flow quickly.
When to renew the stem of a control valve?
Renew the valve stem packing if control valve has been in service beyond normal maintenance interval with packing showing signs of wear. Wear will be indicated by leakage which can not be corrected by minor tightening of packing flange. Caution: Over-tightening of the packing flange can cause erratic operation of the valve.

Where is the best place to set a control valve?
Set control valve in the horizontal line of piping in an accessible location with the arrow on the side of the valve body in the direction of fluid flow. Upright positioning of control valve is preferable for ease of maintenance.
