Firstly, push the inner cable from the clutch side to the stop into the outer cable. Then pull the inner cable out again completely which puts the automatic adjuster into its starting position. Now the safety device can be locked and the cable can be installed.

Check that plate that the push rod pushes against. I had the same issue and when i took the gearbox off, i notices that the spring that holds the plate had come loose and caused the plate to be out of alignment. Battled to get gears when running. A friend had another sort of issue with the same plate.

Has a 4speed gearbox on it, having a issue with it… Bought a new clutch and pressure plate kit.. Installed it as well as a new thrust plate, releaser bearing and 4 speed pushrod. But once I’ve assembled it, I tried to pull the arm on the gearbox up to feel the tension on it and it goes all the way up easily with my hand.
