Why does my car start hard sometimes?
Fouled plugs are one of the most common reasons for a hard starting engine. This can lead to prolonged cranking before the engine will start. Clogged Fuel Filter: A fuel filter that is clogged can make a vehicle very difficult to start. The fuel filter screens out contaminants and can become clogged over time.
What’s considered a hard start?
A “hard start” indicates that the quantity of combustible propellant that entered the combustion chamber prior to ignition was too large. The result is an excessive spike of pressure, possibly leading to structural failure or even an explosion.
What causes a car to have a hard start?
If vehicle had been parked for an extended period or a long time, and the starter cranks. A common possible cause is stale gasoline or diesel fuel, or a seized fuel pump. To repair this, drain the old fuel and you may need to flush fuel lines and injectors. Also, use a hammer to tap the fuel tank in attempt to free up the fuel pump or replace it.
