Is Digital Performer any good?
Digital Performer excels in notation, film scoring, and post-production work, and it’s a great MIDI sequencer for composition purposes. But you can do all of those things in all of the other major DAWs as well. It’s not as adept as Digital Performer for composing music with virtual instruments, though.

The first version was released by MOTU as a MIDI sequencer in 1985, when it was called Performer, and it was actually the first sequencer to be released on a Mac. You can also try disabling any third-party plug-ins. Try placing the MOTU folder back into the Extensions folder. Then, click the MOTU folder and find the Plug-ins folder. Pull any third-party plug-ins (VST Wrapper, Powered Plugins, PowerCore, Waves, etc.) onto the desktop. See if DP works better with MAS running, but those plugins disabled.
