What are DAW session files?
Session Files: Each time you “save” and then subsequently “save as” in your DAW, you’re creating a session file. Each session file contains information that tells the software what to recall from the audio folder and when; MIDI, automation, and tempo data—information that’s specific to the session you’ve opened up.
What happens in a recording session?

What is a Pro Tools session file?
A session in Pro Tools is simply a song file that contains all the audio and MIDI tracks, plug-ins, and mixer settings for all your tracks. Pro Tools session files don’t actually contain the audio data; instead, they just have the audio files attached to them.
What is the extension of Pro Tools session files?
‘Latest’ refers to the session format used in Pro Tools 10 to Pro Tools 12, with the file extension ‘. ptx’, while Pro Tools 7 to 9 sessions used file extension ‘. ptf’; it’s also still possible to save a version that will be compatible with Pro Tools versions from v5.

Where are studio one Soundsets stored?
By default it will be Documents/Studio One/Sound Sets. That file path can be found under the “StudioOne” menu –> Drop down select (PC – “Options” || Mac – “Preferences”) –> “Locations” –> “Sound Sets”.
Where are studio one instruments stored?
***By default Studio One saves your songs to Documents>Studio One>Songs. Each song has it’s own song folder.
