Are UAD plugins transferable?
UAD plug-ins can only be moved between accounts via this transfer process. Once the the hardware is registered by the buyer, the plug-ins will be transferred into the buyer’s account.
Are Universal Audio plugins worth it?
Universal Audio interfaces are worth it because they incorporate Thunderbolt technology. That being said, there are many audio interfaces on the market that now support Thunderbolt. Most of them are actually pretty affordable and only slightly more expensive than their outdated USB counterparts.
What UAD plugins do I have?
Click MENU > VIEW > SETTINGS. Click on the PLUG-INS tab to view an alphabetical list of UAD plug-ins that are authorized to run on your Apollo or Arrow.
Can I use my UAD plugins on multiple computers?

Can I use UAD plugins without hardware?
Unfortunately, no. UAD plugins are only processed by Apollo/UAD-2 DSP Accelerator inside of UAD devices.
How do I transfer ownership of Apollo?
When a UAD-2 or Apollo device is sold second-hand, the current owner will need to fill out the “Transfer” form to transfer ownership of the device to the new owner. To fill out the transfer form, the current owner must first log in to their UA account at www.uaudio.com and then go to the “My UA Hardware” page.
Is UAD better than waves?
The argument for waves would be that you get far more plugins for the money and arguably they’re on the same level as the UAD however the CPU load is probably going to end up being quite high. UAD does have the external DSP processing (however no education discount/less frequent sales) so the CPU load is lighter.
Are UAD plugins free?
All newly registered UAD-2 / Apollo products come with an included plug-in bundle free of charge. These bundles are a great way for new users to get started with UAD plug-ins right out of the box without the need for an additional purchase.
Can I use my Apollo on two different computers?
Yes, you can do this. If there are any firmware differences the required firmware will be loaded into the unit when you connect it to said computer.
The easiest and most efficient way to transfer your UAD-2 hardware and/or plug-in authorizations to a different account is to submit a “Transfer of Ownership” request right from the “My Hardware” section of your account. More in-depth details on this transfer of ownership process can be found here.
Why do UAD plugins need hardware?
With UAD-2 plug-ins, the actual plug-in processing is offloaded to UAD-2 hardware. This frees up your computer to do other things, like mixing audio, running samplers, or soft synths. The end result is that you can run more professional mixes on your system, and can add substantial power to your studio.

How many UAD plug-ins you can run with any given UAD-2 device greatly depends on which plug ins you are using in particular and what sample rate you are working at.
How are UAD Plug-ins transferred to the buyer account?
Once the the hardware is registered by the buyer, the plug-ins will be transferred into the buyer’s account. I purchased a used UAD-2/Apollo device but the UAD plug-ins that were supposed to be included were not transferred to my UA account.
