Is REMOTE_ ADDR reliable?
Yes, it’s safe. It is the source IP of the TCP connection and can’t be substituted by changing an HTTP header.
Can REMOTE_ ADDR be spoofed?
No. $_SERVER[‘REMOTE_ADDR’] is the actual physical IP address the client used to connect to the webserver, as confirmed by a three-way TCP handshake. There’s no way to fake this by setting simple HTTP headers. $_SERVER[‘REMOTE_ADDR’] is set from TCP connection information, period.
What is $_ SERVER [‘ Remote_addr ‘]?
$_SERVER[‘REMOTE_ADDR’] contains the real IP address of the connecting party. That is the most reliable value you can find. However, they can be behind a proxy server in which case the proxy may have set the $_SERVER[‘HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR’] , but this value is easily spoofed.
What is SERVER Remote_addr?

Can client IP address be spoofed?
In a DoS attack, hackers use spoofed IP addresses to overwhelm computer servers with packets of data, shutting them down. In systems that rely on trust relationships among networked computers, IP spoofing can be used to bypass IP address authentication.
Can localhost be spoofed?
Yes. Surprisingly, it is possible to spoof a loopback source address. Obviously you won’t get any replies, so your spoofed packet also needs to include an exploit. Also it will be stopped at a router, so you need to be on the same local network as the victim.
What is $_ SERVER Request_method == post?
$_SERVER[‘REQUEST_METHOD’] is one of the PHP server variables. It determines: Which request method was used to access the page; i.e. ‘GET’, ‘HEAD’, ‘POST’, ‘PUT’. It’s generally defaulted to GET though, so don’t rely on it for determining if a form has been posted or not (eg if not POST then must be GET etc).
Is it bad if someone knows my IP?
If someone knows your IP address, they can try to connect to your device directly. There are tens of thousands of ports for every IP address, and a hacker who knows your IP can try to brute-force a connection. Once they succeed, hackers can take control of your device, steal your data or even impersonate you.
