Are neural networks random?
Traditionally, the weights of a neural network were set to small random numbers. The initialization of the weights of neural networks is a whole field of study as the careful initialization of the network can speed up the learning process.
Can a neural network work without bias?
In absence of bias, the neuron may not be activated by considering only the weighted sum from the input layer. If the neuron is not activated, the information from this neuron is not passed through rest of the neural network. The value of bias is learnable.
What should I do when my neural network doesn’t learn?
Residual connections can improve deep feed-forward networks. To achieve state of the art, or even merely good, results, you have to have to have set up all of the parts configured to work well together. Setting up a neural network configuration that actually learns is a lot like picking a lock: all of the pieces have to be lined up just right.
How does a neural network work and how does it work?
It takes one or more input variables, and by going through a network of equations, results in one or more output variables. You can also say that a neural network takes in a vector of inputs and returns a vector of outputs, but I won’t get into matrices in this article.
How does a recurrent neural network ( RNN ) work?
Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are a type of ANNs where connections between the nodes form a digraph along a temporal sequence, allowing them to use their internal memory to process variable-length sequences of inputs. Because of this characteristic, RNNs are exceptional at handling sequence data, like text recognition or audio recognition.
What happens when there are too many neurons in a neural network?
Too few neurons in a layer can restrict the representation that the network learns, causing under-fitting. Too many neurons can cause over-fitting because the network will “memorize” the training data.
