Are perfboard holes connected?
3 Answers. That perfboard doesn’t have its pads connected. It has no pads, since there’s a clear area around each hole. Instead it has a plane with a void for each hole.
What is track soldering?
Track soldering is a method of soldering through hole components on a normal perfboard. The soldering tracks look similar to the PCB traces. But here the tracks are designed by you and not the CAD tool. Normal perfboard can be used to get high quality soldering like PCBs using this method.
How do you solder straight lines?

What are the steps to soldering a perfboard?
Using Perfboard | Soldering Basics. 1 Step 1: Making the Perfboard Size. In these pictures I have a couple of small perfboards. They are attached, and you can see there is a section that 2 Step 2: Placing the Parts. 3 Step 3: Solder Path: Option 1. 4 Step 4: Solder Path: Option 2. 5 Step 5: Connecting Wires.
What kind of circuit board is a perfboard?
Perfboards are also called Perforated Circuit Boards, Prototyping Boards, and Dot PCBs. It’s basically a bunch of copper pads on circuit board material, usually on one side but the copper pads can be on both sides. I have a series of Instructables about some Soldering Basics to discuss different aspects of soldering.
What’s the best way to connect solder together?
When you are ready to solder the parts together, there are a few ways to connect the leads of the different parts together. One way is to bend the leads to follow the path you want them to have. Add a bit of solder to both ends of that lead to hold it in place. Another way to make a path is with pieces of wire.
What’s the best way to connect perfboard pads?
Add solder to the path of pads that you want to connect, then gradually add more until the solder build up lets you connect them together. If you need to make a turn in the path, wait for the fresh solder to cool down before adding the turn. Here I have pictures of a demo that I did where I didn’t wait long enough.
