Can a bad coolant temp sensor cause AC not to work?
Another symptom of a bad or failing ambient temperature sensor is inconsistent cooling. As the ambient temperature sensor plays a direct role in the automated function of the AC system, when it is having a problem this may interfere with the system’s ability to cool the vehicle.
Will a bad thermostat cause temp gauge not to work?
A broken thermostat will throw your temperature gauge off. Because the thermostat restricts the flow of coolant through the radiator, it typically gives accurate readings of the temperature.

Why does my a / C stop working in my Malibu?
I have a 2008 Malibu LTZ, here in Las Vegas. I have had 2 similiar issues. 1) A/C would stop working and 2) the seatbelt sensor/chime would stay on/go off even though I was wearing a seatbelt. #1. THe problem was with the AC working, then not working — typically when parked in hot weather. Had car in multiple times.
Why is the temperature gage on my a / C not working?
A/c was blowing cold air for a few minutes then stopped blowing cold air but blow motor was blowing hot air. Next the temperature gage was not working. Disconnected battery for a few minutes and reconnected and the temperature gage is working and the a/c appears to be working.
Are there any problems with my 2010 Malibu?
Had problems on 2010 Malibu but none with 2012. Seems like a poor design or bad elastomer on thermostat. Originally thought it was the temperature sensor and replaced it first but that did not fix the problem. Highly active question. Why does my car’s temp never go up?
1) coolant fan (s) come on when I start car 2) temp gauge stays on C (dead) 3) AC does not kick in (blows air with no AC) This happens at random as best I can tell. But when it happens, it might continue for a day, or half a day and then back to normal. The temp gauge is either dead cold or normal . . . never hot.
