Can a class inherit both from an abstract class and an interface at the same time in C#?
An interface is not a class. In C#, two classes (either abstract or concrete) cannot be inherited by the same derived class. It causes ambiguity in the derived class if both have the same method signature. We can do multiple inheritance in C# using interfaces.
Why do we need both interface and abstract classes?
The short answer: An abstract class allows you to create functionality that subclasses can implement or override. An interface only allows you to define functionality, not implement it. And whereas a class can extend only one abstract class, it can take advantage of multiple interfaces.
How can we inherit both interface and abstract class?
The basic rule: You need to include the interface always where the implementation is. So if you create a method within an abstract classes and define an interface of this method, you’ll need to implement the interface into your abstract class and then all subclasses will automatically implement this interface.
When to use abstract vs interface?
An abstract class is used to define the actual identity of a class and it is used as the object or the same type. In C#, an interface is used if various implementations only shared method signatures. An abstract class is used if various implementations are of the same kind and use the same behavior or status.
What is the difference between interface and class?
Classes and Interfaces are widely used in Object Oriented Programming. The difference between a class and an interface is that a class is a reference type which is a blueprint to instantiate an object and interface is a reference type which cannot be used to instantiate an object. A class can implement many interfaces.
What’s the difference between abstract class and virtual class?
Although Abstract and Virtual are two keywords/concepts that provide a meaning of incomplete implementation to its associated entities, they do have their differences. Abstract methods (that must be defined inside Abstract classes) do not have an implementation at all, while Virtual methods may have an implementation.
Can an interface have an abstract method?
An interface is an entity that has only abstract methods as its body. It can also have static final variables in it. So just like class, an interface can also have methods and variables but note that the methods are abstract (without implementation) and variables are static.
