Can a subclass inherit an interface?
No. An interface defines how a class should look like (as a bare minimum). Whether you implement this in a base class or in the lowest subclass doesn’t matter.
How is multiple inheritance implemented with an interface?
An interface contains variables and methods like a class but the methods in an interface are abstract by default unlike a class. Multiple inheritance by interface occurs if a class implements multiple interfaces or also if an interface itself extends multiple interfaces.
Is multilevel inheritance allowed in interface?
Java supports multiple inheritance through interfaces only. A class can implement any number of interfaces but can extend only one class. Multiple inheritance is not supported because it leads to deadly diamond problem.
What is the difference between interface and inheritance?
Inheritance is the mechanism in java by which one class is allowed to inherit the features of another class. Interface is the blueprint of the class. Like a class, an interface can have methods and variables, but the methods declared in an interface are by default abstract (only method signature, no body).
Does implements count as inheritance?
Inheritance is an important pillar of OOP(Object Oriented Programming). It is the mechanism in Java by which one class is allowed to inherit the features(fields and methods) of another class. There are two main keywords, “extends” and “implements” which are used in Java for inheritance.
Which is better inheritance or interface?
We can inherit enormously more classes than Inheritance, if we use Interface. Methods can be defined inside the class in case of Inheritance. Methods cannot be defined inside the class in case of Interface (except by using static and default keywords). System is not overloaded, no matter how many classes we implement.
When to use multiple inheritance and interfaces in Java?
So if a class implementing two or more interfaces having the same method signature with implementation, it is mandated to implement the method in class also. Refer Java and Multiple Inheritance for details.
Can a subclass inherit an interface from an abstract class?
Abstract classes can allow to implement the methods from an interface they implement to be implemented in sub classes by marking the definition as abstract. And as you can see in the main method, both defining the object as BaseClass or SomeInterface works and makes no difference. Thanks for contributing an answer to Stack Overflow!
Can a concrete interface be inheritance in Java?
The interface is always abstract. A concrete class must implement all the abstract methods specified in the interface. Java does not support the concept of multiple inheritances to avoid the diamond problem encountered in C++ without using a virtual base class.
How does inheritance in interfaces work in C #?
C# | Inheritance in interfaces. C# allows the user to inherit one interface into another interface. When a class implements the inherited interface then it must provide the implementation of all the members that are defined within the interface inheritance chain.
