Can abstract method override?
An abstract method has no implementation. Subclasses of an abstract class must implement (override) all abstract methods of its abstract superclass. The non-abstract methods of the superclass are just inherited as they are. They can also be overridden, if needed.
Can we override a final abstract method of an abstract class?
Clearly, this implementation is invalid because a final class cannot have an abstract method. As a final class cannot be inherited. However, an abstract class can have a final method. This final method is treated like a normal method with a body which cannot be overridden.
Can abstract class have private abstract method?
Private methods are not polymorphic (you cannot inherit them), so it makes no sense to make a private method abstract. Making a method abstract means you’d have to override and implement it in a subclass, but since you can’t override private methods, you can’t make them abstract either.
How do you override an abstract class method?
A non-abstract child class of an abstract parent class must override each of the abstract methods of its parent. A non-abstract child must override each abstract method inherited from its parent by defining a method with the same signature and same return type. Objects of the child class will include this method.
What happens if we don’t override all abstract methods in an abstract class?
3 Answers. The short answer is no. The long answer is : An abstract method in an abstract class must be overridden in a sub-class. If you wan’t to override only one of these methods in your subclass, the subclass will have to be declared as abstract as well.
Can abstract method be private?
Abstract classes can have private methods. Interfaces can’t. Abstract classes can have instance variables (these are inherited by child classes). Finally, a concrete class can only extend one class (abstract or otherwise).
Can I make abstract class as final?
No, An abstract class can’t be final because the final and abstract are opposite terms in JAVA. Reason: An abstract class must be inherited by any derived class because a derived class is responsible to provide the implementation of abstract methods of an abstract class.
Can we have a method which is both abstract and final?
In short, an abstract class cannot be final in Java, using both abstract and final modifiers with a class is illegal in Java. An abstract method must be overridden to be useful and called but when you make the abstract method final it cannot be overridden in Java, hence there would be no way to use that method.
Why can’t an abstract method be private?
If a method of a class is private, you cannot access it outside the current class, not even from the child classes of it. But, incase of an abstract method, you cannot use it from the same class, you need to override it from subclass and use. Therefore, the abstract method cannot be private.
Can an abstract method have a body?
Abstract methods cannot have body. Abstract class can have static fields and static method, like other classes. An abstract class cannot be declared as final. If a class extends an abstract class, then it should define all the abstract methods (override) of the base abstract class.
Can a non abstract method override an abstract method?
A non-abstract child must overrideeach abstract method inherited from its parent by defining a method with the same signature and same return type. Objects of the child class will include this method. A child may define additional methodswith signatures different from the parent’s method.
Can you declare an abstract method in a protected class?
Yes, you can declare an abstract method protected. If you do so you can access it from the classes in the same package or from its subclasses. (Any you must to override an abstract method from the subclass and invoke it.)
Is it possible to abstract a private method in Java?
Then to call it…. Private methods are not polymorphic (you cannot inherit them), so it makes no sense to make a private method abstract. Making a method abstract means you’d have to override and implement it in a subclass, but since you can’t override private methods, you can’t make them abstract either.
Can a method of a class be private?
