Can delegation be implemented without a protocol if yes then why do we need a protocol?
A delegate doesn’t have to conform to a protocol. You don’t have to use protocols…but you should if you want to keep things flexible. Delegation is in essence asking someone else to do something for you. If you enforce a contract, then its more likely they will do it for you.
What is difference between protocol and delegate?
We can say Protocol as a set of rules. That rules can be optional or required like we have to use in protocol. Delegates is a message passing technique in objective C and swift. An object has to take care of that message.
What is a delegation protocol?
Delegates are a use of the language feature of protocols. The delegation design pattern is a way of designing your code to use protocols where necessary. In the Cocoa frameworks, the delegate design pattern is used to specify an instance of a class which conforms to a particular protocol.
Is protocol the same as interface?
A class interface declares the methods and properties associated with that class. A protocol, by contrast, is used to declare methods and properties that are independent of any specific class.
Which protocol includes messages that should not be sent from other objects?
Private protocol includes messages that normally should not be sent from other objects; it is accessible only to operations of that class. In private protocol, only the class itself can use the method.
What’s the difference between a protocol and a delegate?
Protocol is a set of methods (either optional or required) that would be implemented by the class which conforms to that protocol. While, delegate is the reference to that class which conforms to that protocol and will adhere to implement methods defined in protocol.
Is it possible to write code without using a delegate?
It’s possible to write code for years without deliberately using delegate, Action, or Func types. I say “deliberately” because we may have used them without realizing it. Knowing what these types represent makes reading code easier. Knowing how to use them adds some useful tools to our developer toolbox. What Is a `delegate`?
Why do we use delegates in C # code?
When you see these used in code, it’s easier to tell what’s happening. We’ve added a new tool which, when used judiciously, can help us to write more concise, “functional” code. To learn more about writing functional code in C#, watch Functional Programming with C# by Dave Fancher.
How to use action or FUNC or declare a delegate?
Func is a function with an int and DateTime parameter that returns a string. Action and Action<> represent methods that return nothing. Action has no parameters. Action represents a method with a string and int parameter. Should I Use Action or Func or Declare a delegate?
