Can I plane plywood edges?
Of course you can use hand planes on plywood edges. Just make sure your blade is sharp and adjusted correctly. In addition, a low angle plane will limit the amount of tear out. The glue is more of an issue than the plies of the plywood.
Can you joint with a jack plane?
I have found that a truly flat jack plane can joint just about anything straight and most long planes such as cast metal jointers are actually rarely flat.
