Can MacBook Pro 2011 use 1600mHz RAM?
1) 1600 MHz RAM works fine in the 2011 MacBook Pro, but it provides no tangible benefit for everyday use.
Is 1600 MHz RAM bad?
Is it good enough for gaming? For most games, 1600mhz RAM is a good enough speed. You won’t run into many issues, as long as the other pieces of your build can live up to the speed.
Does MHz matter on RAM?
RAM frequency is measured in MHz and usually immediately follows the DDR version in the RAM spec. This is why though higher frequency RAM is technically faster, that additional speed often does not translate into better actual real world performance.
What kind of RAM does a MacBook Pro have?
1600MHz RAM on a Late 2011 MacBook Pro? While the 2011 MBP ships with 1333MHz RAM, some say that 1600MHz may not be supported in. Others say that it is backwards compatible (going down to 1333MHz when installed).
Can you use 1600Mhz RAM on a MacBook Pro?
It’s not possible to use RAM running at 1600MHz in your Macbook Pro 8.2, because it’s not supported by the processor. Your Macbook Pro has the Intel® Core™ i7-2635QM Processor which only allows DDR3-RAM running at 1066/1333MHz according to Intel. (see link for official specs)
Is it possible to run 16GB of memory at 1600 MHz?
While the 2635QM processor does not support 1600MHz memory, it does support 16GB RAM: 16 GB should be possible – but I’m quite sure it will always run at 1333 MHz, as the firmware sets the clock speed. Thus, even if you buy a 1600 MHz module it should run at 1333 MHz ( edit: 1600 MHz is possible, see comments)
What kind of RAM does a 2011 MBP have?
While the 2011 MBP ships with 1333MHz RAM, some say that 1600MHz may not be supported in. Others say that it is backwards compatible (going down to 1333MHz when installed). But even some have suggested (and tried in a Mac mini; see last post) that the system profiler reports the full 1600MHz being accessible by the chipset.
