Can new languages be created?
Languages evolve across time much like society, taking centuries to become the way that they are today. One subgroup of Warlpiri, however, has recently created a new version of the language by combining elements from English, Warlpiri, and Kriol (another local dialect).
Will minority language disappear?
Often a language’s death is recorded when the last known speaker dies, and about 35 percent of languages in the world are currently losing speakers or are more seriously endangered. Linguists estimate that about 50 percent of the languages spoken today will disappear in the next 100 years.
