Can Nvidia use Wayland?

Nvidia’s proprietary graphics driver provides better Wayland support primarily through one property: It can now also handle hardware acceleration via OpenGL and Vulkan for applications that run with Xwayland.

Can you turn off GPU when not in use?

It’s a piece of hardware, you can’t turn it off unless you physically unplug it from the motherboard. It might not use 10W when you aren’t doing something graphically intensive though.

How do I disable my built in graphics card?

START > Control Panel > System > Select the “Hardware” tab > Device Manager > Display Adapters. Right click on the listed display (common is the intel integrated graphics accelerator) and select DISABLE.

Why does Wayland not work with NVIDIA?

the main reason not to use Wayland on NVIDIA is that it doesn’t support hardware acceleration of X11 apps (most apps and all games) 1. They are rendered in software on the CPU, so that’s a significant step backward.

Why are apps still running on my NVIDIA GPU?

When plugged in to power, applications will run on the dedicated graphics card. However, after unplugging and switching to power saving mode, these applications are still active on the nvidia GPU (silly things like logitech mouse overlay, but also firefox). This absolutely kills my battery life, and forces me to restart the computer.

Is there a way to disable the NVIDIA GPU?

Thanks, Have a nice day. That does not really DISABLE anything and your just telling it which GPU to use for PhysX when it will only use the NVIDA anyway. Within the NVIDIA Control Panel, there is an OPTION to put the GPU in the CONTEXT MENU, then you right click the programs when running and tell it to use the NVIDIA GPU.

Can a Linux laptop run a NVIDIA GPU?

Unfortunately finding a Linux laptop is not simple at all, and it seems the only option I found includes a nvidia Quadro M1200 and an Intel HD 630. I know that it is very complex/impossible to properly run wayland (Ubuntu for instance) on nvidia. Actually I don’t care in any way about the nvidia GPU, the Intel GPU should be more than sufficient.
