Can Tableau viewer create alerts?
Viewers are not capable of creating data driven alerts regardless of what their permission level is set to. Only explorers and above can actually create the alerts.
What happens to custom views when the original view is updated?
If the original view is updated or republished (with different filters, for example), your custom view is updated too. Likewise, if the original view is deleted from the server, your custom view is deleted.
