Can you charge and discharge a LiPo at the same time?
No, a battery can’t be charged and discharged at the same time. It’s possible, BUT the charger would need to be able to provide enough current to charge the LiPo and carry the load at the same time.
What happens if you discharge a LiPo?
The speed control can only assume that the cells of the battery are all equal. This is important because, as I mentioned above, discharging a LiPo cell lower than 3.0V causes a usually permanent degradation of the cell’s ability to absorb and retain a charge.
Can a fully discharged LiPo explode?
Over discharging – Lipo batteries have a current rating labeled as “C”. The battery will start to swell or feel hot. Make sure you don’t let a Lipo battery go below 3.0v per cell, it’s very unlikely to have a battery explode from going below 3.0v per cell. However it will cause damage to the battery.
Can a LiPo battery be discharged in balance mode?
Safely discharge the LiPo battery down as low as you can by running it, or by using a balance charger in discharge mode. Once you’ve done that, further discharge the battery by hooking up a small LED, or similar load to it.
Can a lipo Charger be connected to a charger?
You can hook up your fully charged LiPo as the power source of the charger, and charge your empty LiPo’s (or storage charge). You can even connected multiple fully charged packs on a parallel charging board to speed up the process.
What’s the maximum charge rate for a LiPo battery?
You need to be careful when charging your LiPo battery. NEVER attempt to charge your battery if it is still hot from use or damaged in any way. Most LiPo batteries have a maximum charge rate of 1C, or 1 times the capacity. So, if your battery is 3000 mAh, then its max charging rate would be 3 amps.
Why do you need to parallel charge LiPo batteries?
Parallel charging allows you to charge multiple LiPo batteries at once using a single charger. Parallel charging is a more effective and faster way of charging your batteries, and it allows you to go out and fly more often, which is what this is all about.
