Can you connect a Raspberry Pi to a breadboard?
You can use any Raspberry Pi for this project, but the Pi Zero models do not connect to breadboards as easily without some soldering. Whichever model you use, you will also need a power source, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Where do you put the resistor on a breadboard?
Plug one of the resistor leads into a hole directly below the cathode lead of the LED and the other lead into a hole below the middle channel of the breadboard. This connects the LED cathode to one of the resistor leads. It does not matter which way around the resistor is plugged into the breadboard.

How do you connect a breadboard to a Raspberry Pi?
Let’s get hands-on by lighting up an LED with the Raspberry Pi. To get things started, we’ll feed some power to the breadboard with one of the 3V3 pins on the Raspberry Pi. Grab one of your M-F jumper cables and make a connection from the 3V3 pin to the top hole in the positive rail.
What kind of resistor do I need for Raspberry Pi?
If you’re on a tighter budget, you’ll need at least: A few resistors, wires and a button. Search Amazon, or get the CamJam EduKit – £5 (~$7) A breadboard and either some wires to connect it to the Pi, or a T-Cobbler and ribbon (for a much easier and cleaner connection) – $5 – $15
How do you connect GPIO pin to breadboard?
Connect one side of the resistor to the same line the GPIO pin is plugged into and the end into the other side of the breadboard. Then place the positive side of the LED after the resistor. The negative end of the LED can be connected directly to the negative rail. The end result should look like the diagram above.
How do you light up a Raspberry Pi?
So we use visual breadboard diagrams, like this. This complete diagram uses the power and ground pins from a Raspberry Pi to light up an LED. Take a female-to-male jumper lead (the colour of the wire doesn’t matter) and connect the female end to a 5V pin on the Raspberry Pi.
