Can you modify the MIT license?
Yes. You cannot “re-license” MIT-licensed code, and the MIT-licensed code will remain under the MIT License, but you can redistribute it as part of another project under any license you wish. You should make it clear that any changes that you make to the MIT-licensed code are released under your new license.
Can I change Github license?
You are correct you can remove the file and then check your community profile, and you’ll see the option to add a license once again. As far as the branches, we only look at the license on the default branch, and apply that to the whole repository.
Can you re-release a project under a different license?
If you own all the code, then you can re-release it under whatever license you want. The problem comes if someone has contributed patches to the project. What usually happens is that they own that code, and they contributed it under the current software license. (You should have some sort of contributers agreement that covers this.)
Do you need a license to be an unlicensed contractor?
They are required to have both to maintain their license. Unlicensed contractors — you guessed it — do not. And so they don’t, because they can’t. Unlicensed contractors are unable to attain liability insurance and worker’s compensation because — you guessed it again — they are unlicensed! It’s a bit of cause and effect.
Can you change a license once you pick one?
State your copyright, say that it’s only distributable as you specify. Each version of the product you release is governed by it’s own license, and if you are the sole developer, you can choose whatever license you want at any time, and change it at any time.
What does it mean to have a construction license?
If a contractor holds a license for construction work, it proves that they have met certain industry standards to acquire the license and that they also maintain those standards when working a contract to uphold their license.
