Can you replace narrow band with wideband O2?
The Wideband and Narrow Band Sensors are not compatible and you must choose the proper TUNER for your car. NOTE: MOST poor results can be traced to an incorrect installation of the EFIE using the wrong sensor wire- double check yours by the method below!
Are both downstream O2 sensors the same?
A: Each vehicle is different in the amount of O2 sensors they have. A: The upstream sensor threads into the pipe coming from the engine, closer to the front of the car, and the downstream sensor threads into the catalytic converter, more toward the rear of the vehicle. They are not interchangeable.
Are wideband O2 sensors plug and play?
Fully plug and play, no sensor calibration is required. Compatible with Gasoline, Diesel, Ethanol, Methanol, E85, LPG, CNG. Accurate to 0.1AFR with less than 100mS reaction time from rail to rail. Advanced sensor health monitoring, displays oxygen sensor health and reaction time on the DM-6 gauge.
Can you use a wideband O2 sensor?
The ideal way to fit a Wideband O2 controller is to replace the factory narrowband sensor in the exhaust pipe. A good Wideband controller such as our TechEdge 2J9 will provide a simulated narrowband O2 output for the ECU, allowing the ECU to operate in closed loop mode as if the factory sensor was still in the exhaust.
What is the difference between wideband and narrow band O2 sensors?
A narrowband sensor can measure only between approximately 14.0/15.0:1 air/fuel ratios to report a rich or lean condition, but a wideband is much more robust. A wideband sensor can detect oxygen content in the exhaust that’s way below or way above the ideal air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1.
Can you tune without a wideband?
If you plan to head to the rollers to get it setup, and want a more hands-off install, then no need for a wideband at all. The dyno operator will use their own wideband during mapping, will optimise the fuelling and ignition, and, everything being equal, it should never change once tuned.
Is wideband better than narrowband?
The terms “narrowband” and “wideband” refer to the actual radio channel bandwidth. The benefit of using a narrow channel is the lower noise bandwidth and hence better sensitivity and range. The advantage of wideband is the capability to transfer higher data rates.
How should O2 sensors read?
When the mixture is lean, the sensor’s output voltage will drop down to about 0.1 volts. When the air/fuel mixture is balanced or at the equilibrium point of about 14.7 to 1, the sensor will read around 0.45 volts.
What is Lambda O2 sensor?
The Lambda Sensor , also known as an Oxygen or O 2 sensor, gives a voltage feedback to the ECU indicating the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, thus allowing accurate control over the combustion mixture. This is important to minimise emissions, maximise fuel economy and ensure the longevity of the catalytic converter.
What is a wide band oxygen sensor?
A wideband oxygen sensor (commonly referred to as a wideband O2 sensor ) is a sensor that measures the ratio of oxygen to fuel vapor in the exhaust exiting an engine. The measured ratio is expressed as parts of oxygen to fuel.
What is a good oxygen sensor reading?
The primary O2 sensor reading should range between 300-600mV sometimes going as low as 100 mV and as high as 900 mV and the reading will change quickly.
