Can you solder coax cable?
Attaching RCA connectors can be a bit more time-consuming as, with some types of RCA connectors, the coaxial cable’s wires need to be soldered to the connector after stripping the cable with a stripping tool .
Which connector is used with coaxial cable?
BNC. Originally designed for military use, the Bayonet Neil-Concelman (BNC) coaxial connector is a miniature-to-subminiature RF connector used for quick connect/disconnect in RF equipment, test instruments, radio, television, and video signal.
What is an IPEX connector?
IPEX Connector (IPX Connector)has designed several series MHF connectors which provide alternative of Hirose U. FL connector, Hirose W. FL connector, and Murata HSC connector. IPEX female connectors are surface-mounted and soldered directly to the printed circuit board with 50 ohm impedance.
Can you solder WIFI antenna cable?
Would soldering antenna wires actually degrade WIFI signals? Good soldering will have minimal effect. Bad soldering can completely render the signal useless.
What kind of coaxial cable do I need for a PCB?
I have a length of RG-316 single shield 50Ω coaxial cable carrying a 5.8 GHz signal that I need to connect to a PCB. While cheap relative to most coaxial connectors, SMA connectors are still quite expensive, take up space and are relatively heavy. The PCB was designed for side mount SMA connectors.
Can you put wire around the solder joint?
I’d stay away from adding any material around the solder joint or the wires outside the shield. However, you can do most anything you want back down the cable a bit from the solder joint and where the shield is still intact. Perhaps you can hold the cable down with cable ties or something further from the board.
Can you use SMA connectors instead of solder pads?
Soldering directly to the pads of the SMA connector instead of using SMA connectors should work fine electrically. The obvious problem is that the cable is no longer removable. If you’re fine with that, then go ahead. It would be good to have some mechanical strain relief if this has a chance of getting flexed.
