Do current sources exist?
6 Answers. An ideal current source is a concept, and does not exist, cannot exist. Other useful concepts like an ideal resistor, an ideal voltage source, a ‘light inextensible string’ or ‘frictionless surface’ (I loved those two in physics lessons) don’t and cannot exist either.
How do you create a constant current source?
So to make a device that provides a constant current no matter the load, we have to use negative feedback and convert the current flowing through our load into a voltage. Luckily, there is a very easy way to convert a current to a voltage which involves using a small ohm resistor (in our case, a 0.1-ohm resistor).
How do you find the voltage in a current source?
The voltage across an ideal voltage source is independent of the current flowing through it. An ideal voltage source can be defined by an equation like this: v = V v = \text V v=Vv, equals, start text, V, end text, for example: v = 1.5 V v = 1.5\,\text V v=1.
What are the application of current source?
Current sources can be used to bias transistors and can also be used as active loads for high gain amplifier stages. They may also be used as the emitter sources for differential amplifiers – for example they may be used in the transistor long tailed pair.
What is an example of current source?
The output part of the simple current mirror is an example of such a current source widely used in integrated circuits. The common base, common gate and common grid configurations can serve as constant current sources as well. A JFET can be made to act as a current source by tying its gate to its source.
What is the ideal current source?
An ideal current source is by definition a two-terminal element with the property that the current flowing through the device is specified at every instant in time. This current does not depend on the voltage across the source.
Why do we need constant current source?
A perfect constant voltage source/sink is a short circuit (zero resistance) to AC, and Ohm’s law, therefore, ensures that even an infinite AC current passing through it develops zero AC voltage across it.
What is an ideal current source?
Definition: An ideal current source is a two terminal device which supplies constant current irrespective of load resistance. The value of current will be constant with respect to time and load resistance. An ideal current source has infinite parallel resistance connected to it.
What is the difference between current source and voltage source?
The various types of sources available in the electrical network are voltage source and current sources. A voltage source has a forcing function of emf whereas the current source has a forcing function of current.
What is an example of a current source?
What is difference between voltage source and current source?
In other words, the source is an active network element meant for generating electrical energy. The various types of sources available in the electrical network are voltage source and current sources. A voltage source has a forcing function of emf whereas the current source has a forcing function of current.
What is ideal voltage source and current source?
The internal resistance of an ideal voltage source is zero; it is able to supply or absorb any amount of current. The current through an ideal voltage source is completely determined by the external circuit….Ideal voltage sources.

Do you need to know a variety of sources?
Different assignments require information from a variety of sources; therefore, you need to understand where to go to find certain types of information. Select a type of source needed for a specific information need based on appropriateness If playback doesn’t begin shortly, try restarting your device.
Where do I get most of my information from?
Information can come from virtually anywhere — social media, blogs, personal experiences, books, journal and magazine articles, expert opinions, newspapers, and websites — and the type of information you need will change depending on the question you are trying to answer. Different assignments require information from a variety of sources;
Where can I find a list of reference sources?
Where to Find : Traditionally, reference resources are available as books or series of books. They can be purchased by consumers but are often far too expensive. They can be found in the reference sections of public and academic libraries. Not all print reference sources are books; for example, there are also maps.
How to select a type of information source?
Select a type of source needed for a specific information need based on appropriateness If playback doesn’t begin shortly, try restarting your device. Videos you watch may be added to the TV’s watch history and influence TV recommendations. To avoid this, cancel and sign in to YouTube on your computer.
Is AC a current source?
Alternating current (ac) is the flow of electric charge that periodically reverses direction. An ac is produced by an alternating emf, which is generated in a power plant, as described in Induced Electric Fields. If the ac source varies periodically, particularly sinusoidally, the circuit is known as an ac circuit.
What are the two sources of AC current?
The different sources of direct current include an electric cell, a battery, a DC generator, etc. An AC generator produces alternating current while a DC generator produces direct current. Note: The electricity supply to our homes is in the form of alternating current because energy loss is less in case of AC.
What is AC theory?
Alternating current, or ac, theory is concerned with the mathematical analysis of the steady-state behaviour of electrical circuits in which the currents and voltages vary periodically with time.
What is the main source of AC current?
These waves come from alternators at electrical power plants creating AC power. Inside an alternator, a wire loop spins inside a magnetic field. The spinning creates the waves of alternating current when the wire moves into areas of different magnetic polarity.
What is the most common source of AC power?
The most common type of AC is the sine wave. The AC in most homes and offices have an oscillating voltage that produces a sine wave. Square waves are often used in digital and switching electronics to test their operation.
