Do some cars headlights not turn off?
A Bad Relay Could Be the Culprit If a bad headlight relay is a reason that your headlights won’t turn off, then the fix there is also to just replace the relay. If the headlights turn off, then you just need to buy and install a new relay.
What would cause headlights to stay on?
Most total headlight failures are caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. Wiring problems can also cause both headlights to stop working. High beam headlights don’t work or low beams don’t work. The cause: A burned out bulb, or a problem with the high beam switch or relay.
Why do lights stay on after car is turned off?
If your parking lights stay on when your car is off, you might just need to hit the parking light switch. This switch is usually located on or near your steering column. This switch controls whether or not the lights are on- even if the key is not in the engine.

Start by pulling the headlight switch out, and disconnecting it from its electrical connector. A bad switch will cause this all day. If that does not turn them off, remove the relay. If that does not turn them off, have the body control module tested by a certified shop.

This is especially helpful in the periods right after dawn and before sunset to increase visibility to other motorists. If your vehicle is equipped with a “DRL OFF” setting, they can be turned off by twisting the headlight control knob to “DRL OFF.”

Why do the headlights stay on after the ignition is shut off?
If your lamps are staying on permanently after: 1) ignition shut-off, and then 2) light switch shut off, suspect something in the headlamp-off-delay feature. (This assumes that your vehicle is equipped with this feature.) Just wanted to give an update on my troubleshooting. I put the fuse back in and all the exterior lights remain on.

I also wanted to mention that all the lights are on: the front, the back, and the parking (front and back). The fog lights are also on, but there is a separate switch that does turn these off, but all the other lights remain on. The relay for the automatic light system is stuck on. It’s supposed to turn the lights on when it gets dark out.
What should I do if my headlamp wont turn on?
Have your headlamp wiring checked right away if this happens. A reminder chime will sound when your headlamps or parking lamps are manually turned on and your ignition is off, in LOCK, ACCESSORY, or a door is open. To disable the chime, turn the light off then back on.
