Do USB hubs have surge protection?
The USB hub also offers an optional DIN-rail mount that can be used for equipment rack installations. To protect both the host system and downstream devices from power surges, this industrial USB hub integrates 350W surge protection per port. As such, an AC power adapter is not included with this product.
Can you connect DAC to USB hub?
One trick you can use is to connect the computer through a USB hub, using two USB cables–one between the computer and the hub, the other between the hub and the DAC. While it may seem counter intuitive to improve something by adding another element in the data path, it works.
Are USB ports surge protected?
Charging up to 8 electrical devices simultaneously with 6 AC outlets, 2 USB ports. Quick charge 2.4A for smart devices. perfect for home and office with combined security of surge protection….

Can you piggy back USB hubs?
Yes, you can connect one USB hub to another one. Make sure both USB hubs are self-powered—they have their own power supplies and are not pulling power from the computer system.
Is there ESD protection on USB hub X?
Hub X, in its various incarnations, claims ±15kV ESD protection or just “industrial”. This hub has no external ESD protection, and it uses the ViaLabs VL811 chipset. Data sheets for the VL811 aren’t available.
Where do you place an ESD in a USB?
Silicon ESD, or SESD devices, can be placed at the USB power source in USB designs (Fig. 1). The product series includes 0402- and 0201-sized devices that have low capacitance of 0.10 pF for bi-directional devices and 0.20 pF for uni-directional devices.
How does ESD protection work on a SESD device?
The single-channel SESD devices provide robust ESD protection with 20kV contact and air discharge rating per the IEC61000-4-2 standard. During an ESD event, a protection device will clamp at its specified clamping voltage and shunt most of the peak pulse current (caused by the event) to ground to protect the device IC from damage.
Can a hub controller be destroyed by ESD?
In Hub X’s design, these LEDs are driven by the hub controller without even a current limiting resistor in the series. An ESD strike to one of its LEDs would likely destroy the hub controller. While evaluating hub X, we had 2 of the 4 downstream ports stop working just from plugging in standard devices.
