Do you get notified when someone logs into your Find My iPhone?
Apple will notify you every single time you (or family) log into find my iPhone. If a family member does more than one search for you while being logged in, you will only be notified one time. This feature does not have any user settings past turning the service on or off.

Maybe you need ANOTHER email address for NOTIFICATION. That is what it seems to me to be breaking down towards. Then wait a day or two, then go back and put any address you want as your new Apple ID. I’m having the same problem and maybe that is the only solution I am able to track down.
