Do you need PFC?
Why do I need PFC? A power supply with PFC can supply higher output load currents than those without PFC. PFC significantly reduces the AC current harmonics, leaving mainly the “fundamental” current frequency that is in-phase with the voltage waveform (Fig. 2).
What is PFC power?
A power factor correction (PFC) circuit reduces the harmonic distortion in the supply current and creates a current waveform close to a fundamental sine wave in order to increase the power factor to unity (1).
How does a PFC unit work?
Power Factor Correction (PFC) equipment is a technology which when installed allows the consumer to reduce their electricity bill by maintaining the level of reactive power consumption. If a site’s Power Factor falls below a predetermined figure then the electricity company adds reactive power charges to your bill.
What can PFC be used for other than computers?
PFC is not used solely for computer power supplies. In other industries, PFC equipment is used to reduce the reactive power produced by fluorescent and high bay lighting, arc furnaces, induction welders, and equipment that uses electrical motors.
Which is the correct power factor for PFC?
PFC is a required feature for power supplies shipped to Europe. In power factor correction, the power factor (represented as “k”) is the ratio of true power (kwatts) divided by reactive power (kvar). The power factor value is between 0.0 and 1.00. If the power factor is above 0.8, the device is using power efficiently.
When do you get the rank of PFC?
The rank of PFC is attained by all Privates Second Class after a year in service or earlier at the request of superiors as a reward for sustained good performance.
When do privates get promoted to PFC?
Privates will be automatically promoted to the rank of PFC after one year of service, or possibly earlier at the discretion of their commanding officer.
