Does API need Cors?
Cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) is a browser security feature that restricts cross-origin HTTP requests that are initiated from scripts running in the browser. If your REST API’s resources receive non-simple cross-origin HTTP requests, you need to enable CORS support.
How do you call an API on a web application?
Implementation overview
- Configure your API. Once you have created your API, you will need to configure any scopes that applications can request during authorization.
- Get an Access Token.
- Call your API.
- Refresh your Access Token.
How do I add CORS support to API?
You can add CORS support to an API proxy by attaching an “Add CORS” policy to the API proxy when you create it. To add this policy, select the Add CORS headers checkbox in the Security page of the Build a Proxy wizard.
Why are API requests restricted to only my own mobile app?
Anything that your app can send, anyone else can send also. This means that the only way to secure access would be to authenticate in some way, i.e. keep a secret. However, you are also publishing your apps. This means that any secret in your app is essentially being given out also.
Do you have to be logged in to use the API?
Update: The user can perform read-only actions, which do not require the user to be logged in, but they can also perform write actions, which do require the user to be logged in (Authentication by Access Token). In both cases I want the API to respond to requests coming only from trusted mobile applications.
How does a web app handle a request?
Each time you get a web request, you serve an anti-forgery token to the client as part of the FORM or script or webapp. The token embeds values like a date, login id, and client ip, encrypted with a secret key only known to your server. Then you only handle requests that include valid tokens.
How does authentication work in a REST API?
It returns a token which you can then send as a proof of authenticity to your API. The important difference with this approach is that though it would be possible to disable the authenticity check on the client, if you did so you would not get the authentication token you need to verify your app with the server.
