Does ESC limit current?
The ESC should be selected to accommodate the maximum safe operating current of the motor.
Is an ESC an inverter?
The ESC provides two functions: DC/AC inversion: six switches serve as PWM inverters that convert the DC power supplied by the battery into AC voltage for a motor. Position sensing: 9 resistors (detailed paper) sense per-phase voltages (and indirectly rotor position & speed) for the control algorithm.
How do ESC speed controllers work?
An ESC or an Electronic Speed Controller controls the brushless motor movement or speed by activating the appropriate MOSFETs to create the rotating magnetic field so that the motor rotates. The higher the frequency or the quicker the ESC goes through the 6 intervals, the higher the speed of the motor will be.
What ESC should I use?
The ESC can be selected based on the voltage and the peak current rating of the motor. A simple rule is to choose an ESC with atleast 5A more capacity than the peak rating of the motor, since you may be powering servos, receiver and other accessories from the ESC.
Which is the latest version of ESC web front office?
If you are a current ESC Web Front Office User please contact ESC Support prior to upgrading. Note: The latest version of 14 is 14.00.19. However, there was no official download for this. Upon logging in to 14.00.18, you will be able to update to 14.00.19.
How big of a hard drive do I need for ESC?
2.0 Ghz Quad Core Processor or faster (2.6 Quad Core Ghz or higher recommended) 8 GB Memory (16 GB or higher recommended) 10 GB or more available hard disk space (Solid State Drives recommended when using ESC. Accounting and for larger databases) TCP/IP – Over a Microsoft Windows Domain or Workgroup.
What kind of operating system do I need for ESC?
Optional: ESC includes Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express as part of the installation. If you want to replace this with your own version of SQL, you will need Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later.
Is the ESC mounted on an electric longboard?
Sensored and sensorless FOC is fully implemented since FW 2.3. The is the ESC mounted on my electric longboard: Sensorless startup and low-speed performance: A short tutorial/demonstration on how to upload the firmware and get your motor running: Video overlay logging (see a post about that here ):
