Does fastText use GPU?
Can we run fastText program on a GPU? As of now, fastText only works on CPU. Please note that one of the goal of fastText is to be an efficient CPU tool, allowing to train models without requiring a GPU.
What is fastText in Python?
fastText builds on modern Mac OS and Linux distributions. Since it uses C++11 features, it requires a compiler with good C++11 support. You will need Python (version 2.7 or ≥ 3.4), NumPy & SciPy and pybind11.
Which is better GloVe or word2vec?
Since morphology refers to the structure or syntax of the words, FastText tends to perform better for such task, word2vec perform better for semantic task. FastText works well with rare words. So even if a word wasn’t seen during training, it can be broken down into n-grams to get its embeddings.
Is FastText supervised?
FastText, by Facebook Research, is a library for efficient learning of word representations and text classification. FastText supports supervised (classifications) and unsupervised (embedding) representations of words and sentences.
Which is an extension of the fastText embeddings?
I was curious about comparing these embeddings to other commonly used embeddings, so word2vec seemed like the obvious choice, especially considering fastText embeddings are an extension of word2vec.
Which is better word2vec or fastText embeddings?
Word2Vec embeddings seem to be slightly better than fastText embeddings at the semantic tasks, while the fastText embeddings do significantly better on the syntactic analogies. Makes sense, since fastText embeddings are trained for understanding morphological nuances, and most of the syntactic analogies are morphology based.
Which is better fastText or Gensim word embeddings?
Especially telling is that the semantic accuracy for FastText has improved slightly after removing n-grams, while the syntactic accuracy has taken a giant dive. Our hypothesis that the char n-grams result in better performance on syntactic analogies seems fair.
How are character n-grams generated in fastText?
For a word, we generate character n-grams of length 3 to 6 present in it. Then, we generate character n-grams of length n. For example, for the word “eating”, character n-grams of length 3 can be generated by sliding a window of 3 characters from the start of the angular bracket till the ending angular bracket is reached.
