Does voltage affect power consumption?
The higher the voltage the higher the power consumption in the case of a pure resistance load. A reduction in voltage does not affect the energy used by the domestic appliances which use resistive loads except in devices such as kettles and toasters which will take longer to do their job due to atmospheric losses.
Does high voltage mean more power?
More voltage means more torque, which comes out to more power for challenging jobs. Voltage is the max possible power, the current is the power as it’s being used, and Amp-hours is how long a tool can last while it’s running.
What is the effect of extra high voltage transmission on power loss?
Extra high voltage carrying lines cause corona losses, and to reduce these losses can be reduced by use of bundle conductors. These consist of two or more conductors in bundle. Each conductor carries equally distributed among these conductors in bundle, so reduces the corona losses.
How does high voltage decrease energy loss in a wire?
If you raise the voltage you can reduce the current to give the same power since P=IV. Higher voltage and lower current is less power lost to I 2R. If you lower the Resistance the voltage will go DOWN, not up, the R in your equation is only a component of V, not of the current.

Why does 230 V lead to less power loss?
Since power loss in an equipment (say resistive heating element) is directly proportional to the voltage, therefore use of 230 V should be less energy sufficient. Why isn’t so?
Why are high voltages used in Electrical Engineering?
The reduction in loss and/or material (copper and/or Aluminium conductor) is so vast that use of high voltage is very desirable. Power loss in transmission of power over distance is mainly (but not wholly) by resistive losses.
