How are search results set up by default?
By default, the Search Results Web Part in your Search Center is set up to use different display templates according to the result type of the search result. Result types define when to use which display template, and the display template defines what information to show in the search results.

Why do we use templates in Google search?
To help users quickly distinguish between different types of results when they search for something in the classic search experience, we use result types and display templates. Important information is shown directly in the search results, so that users don’t have to click on each result to see if they’ve found what they’re looking for.
When to use result types and display templates?
Result types define when to use which display template, and the display template defines what information to show in the search results. For example, there’s a display template for PowerPoint files and another display template for Word documents.
The item display template defines how each result is displayed. The hover panel display template shows additional information when a user hovers with the mouse pointer over a search result. The following diagram shows how result types and display templates are connected. Each result type refers to an item display template.
How to display different types of search results?
For example, just by glancing at the image below you can see that the first two search results are PowerPoint presentations, the third result is a Word document, and so on. To display search results differently like this, search results are sorted into result types. A result type is a classification of a search result.
How to change the look of search results?
The display templates show a selection of the managed properties in the search results, such as file type, title, document summary, path, and image. You can create your own display templates that show information that’s important to your users, for specific types of results.
How to change the way search results are displayed in?
The list is marked for continuous crawl. This means the list will be crawled at a set interval, for example, every minute. You can see the crawl schedule in List Settings > Catalog Setting. From Site Settings > Search Schema you can search for managed properties.
What happens when content does not appear in search results?
By default, the content of a site will appear in search results. If a site owner or administrator specifies that the site content will not appear in search results, then the other search results settings such as those for lists, libraries, ASPX pages, and columns would not have any effect.
In the Search section, under Allow items from this document library to appear in search results, select Yes to include all of the items in the list or library in search result or No to exclude all items from search results. As a site owner you can control whether the content of ASPX pages are included in search results.
