How can I recover my KeePass password?
There is no way of recovering your passwords. If you’ve forgotten it because you just changed the master password, you can do what I do in the future: Make a backup copy that uses the old password. Make sure this has the new password in it.

There is no default location for a KeePass database. It will be where you saved it when you created it. Ideally this is somewhere in your Documents folder.
What is KeePass master password?
Your KeePass database file is encrypted using a master key. This master key can consist of multiple components: a master password, a key file and/or a key that is protected using the current Windows user account. There is no backdoor and no universal key that can open your database.
KeePass and KeePassX (Let’s just say that losing your database of passwords would be … bad.) To share passwords with others, you need to create a database, enter the password, send the database to another person, and somehow securely send them the password to open the database.
Is there a way to crack the KeePass Password?
Note that the database security in KeePass (and any other good encryption scheme) lies completely in the key (password and/or key file). As Bill said already, if you got a weak master password, a recovery software could crack your database.
Why did my master password change in KeePass 2.x?
In KeePass 2.x you may have checked the “Windows User Account” box on the Enter Master Key dialog when you don’t actually use the Windows User Account as part of your master password. If you use a key file then it may have been changed by editing it, or as a result of a disk error. There is no logical reason for your masterpassword to have changed.

Do you need to erase your database to use KeePass?
KeePass does not need to, and therefore won’t, erase your database – it’s already difficult enough to launch a brute-force attack on the master password, and the risk of data loss would have been too great. So you should be fine if you can just figure out that right variation eventually.
