How can you tell a fake STM32?
The forgeries carry the same marks on the packaging as the genuine STM32 parts, but can often be identified by the pattern of dimples on the packaging, or by the quality of the silkscreen. These forgeries aren’t always fully functional.
Why is STM32 out of stock?
You are too late to the party. It was a combination of IC production ramped down or shut down during part of COVID19 era, as well as an increase in consumer demand for some product types. As companies started ramping up assembling boards, they sucked up the available stock for some types of IC chips.

Is the stm32f103c8t6 a real microcontroller?

What’s the device ID on a STM32 chip?
Connected st-link and the chip version comes up as “low density” 32kbyte with device ID 0x0412 on both boards. Connected my older dev board and the version is “medium density” 64kbyte with device ID 0x0410.
What kind of flash memory does STM32F103 have?
Looked up the STM32f103 datasheet and the C6 version is 32kbyte flash with 10kbyte ram. C8 versions have 64kbyte flash with 20kbyte ram. Upon inspecting the top chip label, looks like it may have been erased and new laser marking has been put on.
