How configure DHCP server for multiple VLANs Packet Tracer?
Packet tracer lab setup
- Create three VLANs and add 2 PCs to each VLAN.
- Configure the DHCP server on the switch and create three DHCP pools.
- Assign a DHCP pool to each VLAN.
- Configure all PCs as DHCP clients.
- Verify that all PCs receive their IP configuration from the DHCP server.
- Test connectivity between all PCs.
Does DHCP across VLANs?
DHCP VLAN Relay can be applied in such scenario: a DHCP server is deployed to offer IP addresses to clients in multiple VLANs. These VLANs do not have VLAN interfaces. All the DHCP packets can be forwarded through this interface so that the clients can get IP addresses from the DHCP server.
Can one DHCP server service multiple ipv4 subnets?
A subnet declaration is required for every network your DHCP server is serving. Multiple subnets require multiple subnet declarations. If the DHCP server does not have a network interface in a range of a subnet declaration, the DHCP server does not serve that network.
Can you have 2 VLANs on the same port?
Since the purpose of VLAN tagging is to allow multiple VLANs on the same port, any port that has only one VLAN assigned to it can be configured as “Untagged” (the default) if the authorized inbound traffic for that port arrives untagged. A port can be a member of one untagged, port-based VLAN.
Can we assign 2 VLANs to a single port?
You can create multiple VLANs on the Switch. By default, you can assign One Access Vlan (Data) and One Voice vlan on the switch port.
Does each subnet need its own DHCP server?
How many DHCP scopes can you have on a single subnet?
Normally, only one scope can be assigned to a subnet. If more than one scope is required on a subnet, the scopes must first be created then combined into a super scope. For example, if there are two subnets, then users can create two separate scopes for the separate subnets on one DHCP server.
Can 2 vlans have the same subnet?
If the addresses are all different it is possible to route traffic using a very large number of rules which don’t correspond to the actual subnet configuration and will confuse anyone who inherits this from you. However, it is completely permissible to use the same RFC1918 subnets on different physical networks.
How to setup packet tracer lab for multiple VLANs?

How to configure multiple DHCP servers for different VLANs in?
In this LAB, I am going to share with us on how to configure DHCP servers for VLANs in router on a stick scenario. Three sub-interfaces will be created on the router, each representing a VLAN, with each sub-interface having a dhcp server configured to handle IP address leasing to hosts in that VLAN.
How are DHCP sub-interfaces created on a router?
Three sub-interfaces will be created on the router, each representing a VLAN, with each sub-interface having a dhcp server configured to handle IP address leasing to hosts in that VLAN. Though I have treated VLAN setup before, find it here, to ensure that everyone is carried along, this LAB will include vlan creation.
How to setup a DHCP server on a switch?
Connect PCs to the switch and the switch to the router. The following image shows this lab. Configure this lab to meet the following objectives. Create three VLANs and add 2 PCs to each VLAN. Configure the DHCP server on the switch and create three DHCP pools. Assign a DHCP pool to each VLAN.
