A SharePoint Add-in is a self-contained piece of functionality that extends the capabilities of SharePoint websites to solve a well-defined business problem. Add-ins don’t have custom code that runs on SharePoint servers.
Can you use SharePoint to create an external website?
The external website will be used similarly to a sharepoint site, only that it will be accessed through a public domain. I’ve seen many online sites such as Dell using sharepoint to create such a site for their customers. My question is where can i find a how-to guide to create such a website?
All are valid choices. You need to choose one based on what you want the template to look and like and what exactly you want to share. I explain all the types of sites and provide further direction here. Choose Team Site with an Office 365 Group if you want your external users to access and collaborate on more than just a site.
Your SharePoint site already contains some basic elements, such as a Search bar and a Documents area. It’s very easy to add your own content to a SharePoint site. To enter the Edit mode, on the page you want to edit, select the Edit link. To add text to an existing web part, place the focus in it and then select the Edit Web Part button.
Do you have to allow external sharing in SharePoint?
To allow external sharing on any site, you must allow it at the organization level. You can then restrict external sharing for other sites. If a site’s external sharing option and the organization-level sharing option don’t match, the most restrictive value will always be applied.
