Setting up VICE Go to Retropie Setup from within the RetroPie settings Menu. You can choose from a pre-compiled binary (quicker), or install from source (slower). We’ve gone for the pre-compiled binary. Your screen will now fill with stuff like this for a bit, and then it will be installed!

Now, even though I configured both joystick options (I am using 1 F310) and saved the config, inside the games, the D-PAD doesn’t work. It insists on using the Right analog stick and the ‘Y’ as a fire button. I’ve done the mapping..etc…

For 1, I believe the configuration file is created only once the software is run. Then it’s placed in a hidden directory ( .vice) inside of the home directory ( /home/pi ). If the file isn’t automatically created in /home/pi/.vice/sdl-vicerc like your link suggests, I think you can just create it yourself and it will be read when running VICE.
