To back up a farm by using Central Administration
- Verify that the user account that is performing this procedure is a member of the Farm Administrators SharePoint group.
- In Central Administration, on the home page, in the Backup and Restore section, click Perform a backup.
Can you backup SharePoint?
No, Microsoft doesn’t back up your SharePoint data. It is clearly stated in their terms of service that they are not responsible for any data loss due to negligence or malicious activities, and they recommend backing up your Microsoft 365 data including SharePoint files using third-party apps.

What is Farm in SharePoint?
A SharePoint farm is a collection of servers that work in concert to provide a set of basic SharePoint services to support a single site. A SharePoint farm can be hosted in a cloud, in a company’s private data center or across multiple data centers in different locations.
Open “SharePoint Central Administration” Click on “Backup and Restore” from left navigation. Click on “Perform a site collection backup” present under “Granular Backup”. Select “Site Collection” and enter backup file save path.
How can I back up my SharePoint server farm?
You can back up a SharePoint Server farm by using the SharePoint Central Administration website, Microsoft PowerShell, or SQL Server tools. The backup tool that you use depends on the kind of environment that you have deployed, your backup schedule requirements, and service level agreements that you have with your organization.
Right-click the database that you want to back up, point to Tasks, and then click Back Up. In the Back Up Database dialog, confirm the database name. When to use incremental backup in SharePoint Server?
