How to Check SharePoint Permissions
- Open your SharePoint site settings → Click “Site Permissions”.
- Click “Check Permissions” → Enter the username of the user whose permissions you want to check -> Click “Check Now”.

How do I find my security group?
Right-click on the domain root and select Find; Enter a username and click Find Now; Open the user properties and go to the Member of tab; This tab lists the groups the selected user is a member of.
How do I check group permissions in AD?

If you have a security group say “Marketing” and it was granted access to the following 3 shares. Unless you documented this in your notes section when you created the group you have no idea via AD Users and Groups what this has access to. You would now need to go to each of these 3 servers.
