How do I edit notes in Salesforce?
Allow users to edit other’s Notes in Salesforce Classic
- Click the tab of the Object where you created the Notes.
- Click the name of the record where you created the Notes.
- Scroll down to the Notes related list.
- Click the title of the Notes you want to share or be edited by another user.
Open a note in the Notes related list. Click Share. Select who you’d like to share with. Enter a short message to the recipients.

How to change permissions on custom object’s notes and attachments?
Notes and Attachments are a little funky in that there aren’t permissions associated with them directly. Instead, the permissions are determined based on the parent object which can cause some issues. I suggest instead of Notes & Attachment you use Chatter Files and upload your attachments to chatter files.

Do you need permission to view private attachments?
Notes and attachments marked as private via the Private checkbox are accessible only to the person who attached them and administrators. For administrators to view private notes and attachments, they need the “View All Data” permission; to edit or delete them, they need the “Modify All Data” permission.
