How do I enable content search?
Go to https://compliance.microsoft.com and sign in using the credentials of an account that’s been assigned the appropriate permissions.
- In the left navigation pane of the Microsoft 365 compliance center, click Show all, and then click Content search.
- On the Content search page, click New search.
How do I search for content in Windows?
Searching for File Content In any File Explorer window, click File, then Change folder and search options. Click on the Search tab, then check the box next to Always search file names and contents. Click Apply then OK.
Where is my content in Teams?
You can access them from the Files tab in the chat, the Files page in Teams, and your OneDrive mobile app. Files that you upload to a channel are stored in your team’s SharePoint folder.

The reason why Windows search in file contents is not working is that, by default, Windows 7 does not search inside files in “non-indexed” locations.
Why is my search not working in Office 365?
The issue may lie in the fact that when you installed Office 365, you could have lost your Outlook index. Since you’ve already tried to rebuild and re-index your Outlook but the same issue persists, we suggest that you try running your searches from different Outlook Mail profiles, or different Windows user profile.
Is there a way to search the contents of a file?
In the folder options window, click the “Search” tab and select the option to always search file names and contents. Then click ok. This makes Windows search in file contents, even in non-indexed locations.
Who is responsible for the content search page?
To have access to the Content search page to run searches and preview and export search results, an administrator, compliance officer, or eDiscovery manager must be a member of the eDiscovery Manager role group in the Security & Compliance Center.
