How do I enable Iommu Gigabyte?
The IOMMU is built-in, and it’s nearly impossible to not have it on a server board. The setting is in the manual, under Main Configuration -> Multi-function mode, set it from SF to SR-IOV mode, then go to PCI Subsystems -> SR-IOV support and enable it.
What does Iommu soft do?
iommu=soft tells the kernel to use a software implementation to remap memory for applications that can’t read above the 4GB limit.
What is BIOS Iommu?
IOMMU (I/O Memory Management Unit) is a feature supported by motherboard chipsets that provides enhanced virtual-to-physical memory mapping capabilities, including the ability to map large portions of non-contiguous memory.

What is a bounce buffer?
A bounce buffer resides in memory low enough for a device to copy from and write data to. Pages are allocated in low memory which are used as buffer pages for DMA to and from the device. This is then copied by the kernel to the buffer page in high memory when IO completes so the bounce buffer acts as a type of bridge.
Should I enable IOMMU in BIOS?
If you have installed a virtualization server and want to “pass” the graphics card or other PCI device to a virtual machine running on your hypervisor (virtualization server), you should enable IOMMU (or VT-d for Intel) in the motherboard BIOS of your server.
How do I force integrated graphics into BIOS?

How to enable IOMMU on gigabyte ga-970?
I suggest you edit grub and only have quiet, amd_iommu=on and iommu=pt enabled. It seems you are missing splash but you may not want the splash screen anyway. Having both iommu=pt (pass through mode) and iommu=soft (software mode) enabled at same time will cause a clash since your only supposed to use one or the other.
Is it safe to use IOMMU on a motherboard?
It’s currently at F3; if possible, I’d like to avoid it because it might brick the motherboard.
Do you need ACPI IVRS table for IOMMU?
Even when the chipset supports IOMMU, the bios must have a ACPI IVRS table to enable the use of it! So actual support depends on the motherboard manufacturer.
Can you use both IOMMU and soft at the same time?
Having both iommu=pt (pass through mode) and iommu=soft (software mode) enabled at same time will cause a clash since your only supposed to use one or the other. I suggest using iommu=pt (pass through mode) since it will use the real IOMMU avaliable via the motherboard.
